Uzima mission School
Malindi Church of Christ started a primary school in 2010 when the church began to grow and leaders decided there needed to be a place nearby for the children to be educated.
Managed by the church, the school began with just 8 students, meeting inside the Uzima Training Centre building. Each year more children came and the grade level increased by one. For classrooms, they first added partitions during the school days that were moved out of the way for assemblies of the church or large groups on other days. As the space inside became full of classes, temporary classrooms were put up outside the building, metal sheets for walls and a roof over a cement foundation. In 2018, two permanent classrooms were added as they are a requirement for government registration of the school.

Today, 298 students up to class 7 are enrolled. Class 8 is due to be added in 2020, completing the primary level school. The church manages the school and even sponsors some needy children.

Uzima now has a plan in hand to build permanent buildings to replace the temporary classrooms when resources become available. This upgrade will give parents from the community more confidence to send their children to the school and increase the opportunity for sustainability.
